Guatemala "Quetzal"

butter • vanilla • apricot • nougat

Description

Letting the true varietal character of this delicious Guatemalan coffee shine through, we use a delicate light roast to tease out sweetness without degrading the creamy smoothness and long finish that high-quality Guatemalan coffees are known for. Guatemala "Quetzal" features soft notes of butter, vanilla, apricot and nougat, along with a mild acidity.

The fair trade cooperative that produces this fine coffee is located in the department of Huehuetenango, which happens to be home to the rare and beautiful Resplendent Quetzal (Guatemala's national bird). The cooperative uses fair trade funds to provide technical assistance to its members and has a facility that produces organic fertilizer from coffee pulp to ensure the production of high quality coffee.

Our Coffee

Our coffee is Fair Trade certified according to the Fair for Life standard, Organic Certified by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and grown in shaded conditions by small farmer cooperatives. In addition, the complete carbon footprint (from crop to cup) for our coffee has been offset with tree planting, which qualifies it as a CarbonFree Certified product by CarbonFund.org. All of our coffee is roasted to order and shipped fresh daily. We package in air-tight, foil-lined bags with one-way degassing valves to preserve freshness.
